Hi Robert We have just been browsing through your website. It's great to see people taking such an interest in preserving celtic thatch again. I'm a Thatcher, myself. I was fortunate enough to have been trained by the late Peter Brockett, who helped to re-establish traditional methods of thatching, in Ireland. |
These days, having just returned to the UK, after two years in Brittany, I have taken on a different approach to thatching. Most of my work now is similar to what was required in Brittany; where they preserve the life of the thatched roofs, with a 'remoussage' technique. This includes the removal of moss and lichen, repairs and ridging and a general 'facelift' to the property, enhancing and prolonging the life of the roof, without preclusive cost to the customer. I aim to enclose some pictures of my recent works to show how this looks. Tel: 01299 871129 (Worcestershire, England)- |
